Phil Neville explodes in press conference after interruption - "Show f***ing respect!"

Phil Neville launched into a furious rant during a press conference after Inter Miami’s latest defeat.

Miami lost 3-1 in the Major League Soccer to rivals Orlando City at home on Sunday. Leonardo Campana scored what proved to be a consolation goal for Miami in the second half at the DRV PNK Stadium, but goals from Ercan Kara, Martin Ojeda and Rafael Santos for the visitors handed Neville and his team a defeat.

Miami have now lost back to back games following a 2-1 loss to SC Nashville last week. The result against Orlando leaves Neville and his team in 12th place in the Eastern Conference after 13 games and three points adrift of the playoffs.

Neville took part in his post-match press conference duties after the game, and it’s here where things got rather heated. Neville was about to answer a question from journalist Franco Panizo, before the MLS reporter appeared to try and add something while Neville was beginning to speak.

Before then, though, Neville seemed to take issue with a previous question from Panizo around the fitness of Sergiy Kryvtsov. The defender was substituted in the 33rd minute and replaced by Nicolas Stefanelli.

Neville said: "Do you know why we made the change? Well, we made the change because Sergiy [Kryvtsov] didn't feel 100 per cent. I think what was said on Thursday is that we take accountability for the defeat. What you always look for is things for you to be negative about..."

The former Manchester United and Everton defender then launched into a furious rant and even swore at the journalist, which he would then apologize for. Then, when trying to answer the question a second time, Neville would lose track of his answer. "Can I finish speaking? Or are you going to interrupt? Can I finish speaking? Ok," Neville said angrily to the journalist.

"Because I didn't interrupt your question, so don't interrupt mine. Show some f*****g respect. Sorry for the language.

“So the... Sorry, what was the question? Ask me the question again, please."

Neville has now lost 41 of his 87 games in charge of Inter Miami, after being appointed in January 2021 as the team’s first ever head coach. The club is co-owned by his former Man United and England team-mate David Beckham along with American brothers and billionaire Jorge and Jose Mas.

Miami have a small break from league action as they take on Nashville on Wednesday in the next round of the US Open Cup. Their MLS campaign resumes on Sunday when they travel to face Montreal, who are level on points with Miami and one place below them in the table on goal difference.
