Throughout his future Hall of Fame career, Aaron Rodgers has developed a reputation for driving a dragger into an opponent’s heart any chance he gets. It’s essentially why the Green Bay Packers have been so successful, unleashing many different variations of the Lambeau Leap during his tenure over the last 15 years. This trend didn’t seem so certain to continue early on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.
With Peyton and Eli Manning doing some live analysis of the game on the “Manningcast,” a Rodgers deep shot to Allen Lazard in the late first quarter came into focus. Both saw the play develop precisely as expected and apparently fully envisioned Rodgers unleashing a trademark accurate dart at his pass target.
That … did not happen. Instead, the Green Bay QB sailed it over Lazard’s head for an interception to Taylor Rapp — much to the quiet shock of the two Manning brothers:

I’m kind of taken aback by how quiet both Mannings get once the ball is in Rapp’s hands. I mean, I appreciate the tenor to avoid too emotional of a reaction, but it also seems like they expected more from one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game, right? The surprised/confused looks on their faces after Rodgers’ throw say it all.
Fortunately for Rodgers and the Packers, they’d go on to beat the Rams 24-12 and keep their slim playoff hopes alive. But I will not soon forget how two other Super Bowl-winning QBs were seemingly at a loss for words over a Rodgers interception.
