Pete Davidson 'dumped Kim Kardashian because she had too much baggage'

Pete Davidson's split from Kim Kardashian was said to have been a mutual decision, but a pal of the comedian thinks there is more to it.

Pete's talk show host mate Johnny Potenza thinks it's more likely that it was indeed the former Saturday Night Live star, 28, who severed ties with the reality star, 41.

The pair's highly-publicised whirlwind romance came to an end last month after nine months and Kim recently said "they don’t really make them like him anymore" and labelled him a "cutie".

However, despite suggestions the distance apart being the main cause for their split, Johnny says he thinks Pete simply didn't want the baggage that came with the reality TV star.

During their relationship, Pete often had to deal with Kim's ex and the father of her four kids, Kanye West, calling him out publicly. The rapper often posted vile messages on social media about the comic and even mocked his mental health.

Now Johnny, who gave Pete his start in TV in 2010, has spoke out on his thoughts of what ended the link-up.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "She’s 20 years older, she has four kids and she was married to Kanye West who was always making trouble for them.

“Kanye was picking fights and calling him names. For a man his age it was childish – a pathetic love drama. Most of the people I know in Staten Island were saying it wouldn’t last."

He continued to say the former couple's different backgrounds was always going to make things hard, adding: "Everyone was shocked he was dating Kim, who is a very classy woman. Pete always lived like a regular guy his age."

Pete and Kim's relationship is to briefly feature on Hulu's latest series of The Kardashians, but it's thought that Pete wasn't keen on being a main focus and will instead only be visible in the background.

Speaking to Page Six about his inclusion in the second series of the reality show, an insider said: "He’s in the background, but the reality world is not built for people like Pete."

They continued to say Pete is "a very private person" and acknowledged that Kim "was always super respectful of that".

"He was not on the first season. I don’t know how they’re doing the second season, but he’s not a part of that world," they said.
