A person is being treated for serious injuries after a "bad" two car smash new Switch Island.
Merseyside Police received a 999 call at around 3.50pm on Thursday, September 29, following reports of a crash on Northway in Maghull. Once at the scene they found a brown Peugeot and a black Ford Kuga had crashed at the junction of Dover Road.
Police requested the help of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service as the people involved in the crash were trapped in the vehicles. Pictures from the scene, which The ECHO has chosen not to publish, show the roof and back doors of the Peugeot were removed.

The Ford's bonnet is completely crushed and the passenger-side door was completely removed. Two people were rushed to hospital following the crash, one with serious injuries and another with slight.
An eyewitness said he saw firefighters cutting the roof off one of the vehicles involved in the crash. He told The ECHO: "They were stuck inside the car. At least two fire engines are here and the roof is off the car."
Police closed Northway in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident. A section of Hall Lane was also closed.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We were called to Northway in Maghull at 3.50pm today following reports of a crash. We have closed Northway in both directions and some of Hall Lane.
"One person is being treated for serious injuries and one person for slight injuries. We are still at the scene and are asking people to avoid the area. Thanks for your patience."
Traffic in the area struggled with the road closures, with vehicles queuing for miles on the M57, M58, at Switch Island and on Northway.
