Perimenopause can begin in some women in their 30s, but most often it starts in women ages 40 to 44. It's often marked by changes in menstrual flow and in the length of the cycle.
Although a women’s fertility declines, they can still conceive during perimenopause, but the time is defined as the years leading up to the final period.
This “menopausal transition” brings unpredictable ovulation cycles as oestrogen and progesterone hormone levels go up and down.
