Pensioner with Parkinson’s prosecuted by DVLA over unpaid £3.34 car bill

An 86-year-old pensioner with Parkinson’s disease has been convicted over an unpaid car tax bill amounting to just £3.34.

The octogenarian, who lives on the outskirts of Newcastle, told the fast-track court that the annual £20 tax bill for his silver Ford Fiesta was inadvertently missed in January when their daughter, who manages his finances, was moving house. His wife, also 86, suffers from Alzheimer’s.
