A Pennsylvania man went on a violent stabbing spree that left one person dead and one injured after he became upset over her new haircut, police said.

Benjamin Garcia Gual, 49, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend Carmen Martinez-Silva and her brother, and attempted to stab two others with a kitchen knife Sunday afternoon. Martinez-Silva was found dead, and her brother was taken to the hospital, according to court documents obtained by PennLive.

Yamaris Knight, Martinez-Silva's daughter, told police that Gual became angry after her mother cut her hair. Martinez-Silva reportedly ended up staying with Knight because she was scared of his threats, according to documents obtained by Lancaster Online.

Martinez-Silva went to her brother's house the next day, where police said that Gual showed up. Gual left after being told Martinez-Silva was not there, but allegedly returned and began stabbing her brother, before stabbing Martinez-Silva after she tried to get him to stop, according to court documents obtained by WGAL.

Hector Burgos, a friend of Martinez-Silva, told police that she had instructed him to tell Gual that they were breaking up. However, he said he was not able to find Gual before he arrived at the brother's home.

Burgos told police that Gual also allegedly attempted to stab him and another witness, but missed both times, as reported by PennLive.

Gual was charged with homicide, attempted homicide and aggravated assault, among other charges. He is being held in Lancaster County Prison without bail.

Martinez-Silva's family described her as "loving" in a Gofundme made to help cover funeral costs. "The family is devastated by this loss we would've never imagined a tragedy like this would happen to our beloved Carmen," the family said.
