Patsy Palmer left This Morning viewers stunned with her age revelation when she gave her reasons for signing up to Dancing on Ice after being asked for years to take part. The former EastEnders actress will take to the ice for the first time this weekend with her skating partner Matt Evers.
She is one of eleven celebrities to have signed up for the popular ITV skating show which returns on Sunday (January 15) with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby back at the helm. The cast of 2022 will be hoping to impress viewers as well as the all-star judging panel - skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Diversity star Ashley Banjo and former Strictly pro Oti Mabuse.
Among those taking part in Dancing On Ice 2023 are EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, footballer John Fashanu, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, and Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher. Completing the grand-new line-up are drag queen The Vivienne, TV personality Joey Essex, comedian Darren Harriott, West End star Carley Stenson, singer Michelle Heaton and The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran.
And appearing on This Morning on Thursday (January 12) with just days to go until her debut, Patsy was asked by Phillip and Holly why now was the time to take part. And her response caused surprise among viewers watching at home as it had something to do with her age.
"I’m 50 years old," she said. "And it’s a job, isn't it? Going to work and it’s important we all do that, but I don’t want to go into that boring bit because that’s obvious isn’t it? I am 50 now, I had a huge 50th birthday bash in LA, where I DJ'd and it was all sparkly and I am like I need to keep this sparkly going."
Patsy, who is best known for playing Bianca in the BBC's EastEnders, actually revealed she finally decided to do DOI after five years of being asked. "Oh it’s terrifying," she said about previously turning the show down. "I just thought is there any point in going on a show and potentially getting injured."
But This Morning viewers were more fixated on her age and took to social media to comment. @suzysasha tweeted: "#ThisMorning @thismorning How on earth is @patsypalmerx 50? She looks amazing! Barely looks 40. Team Matt and Patsy! Looking forward to watching on Sun."
@kellymcc5 said: "Patsy at 50 looks fantastic #thismorning." @GaryMunns85 commented: "Patsy Palmer looks better at 50 than she did in Eastenders. #ThisMorning." @motivatedan added: "@patsypalmerx looks fantastic, you NEVER seem to age. Good to see you back. #dancingonice #ThisMorning."
However, there was a habit of Patsy's that viewers couldn't help but pick up on following her previous appearances on the show. @FlopsyPickle tweeted: "Do you think Patsy wanted us to know she lives in LA? She mentioned it enough #ThisMorning." @Laineyfhx added: "Does Patsy Palmer wanna name drop LA any more times #ThisMorning."
