New England Patriots defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. was named the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee by the Patriots organization.
The Walter Payton Man of the Year award goes to the player who has performed at a high level both on and off the field. On the field, Wise has been a key component of the Patriots defense this season, recording 22 tackles and five sacks on the year.
Off the field, he runs the Wise Up Foundation. The foundation provides educational resources and opportunities to athletes, helps bring together the community and supports underserved athletes.
Wise has been a staple for the Patriots both on the field and in the community since he was drafted.
He held his sixth annual “Wise Big Man Camp” at Hebron High School over the summer. It’s a free camp for offensive and defensive linemen aged 14-18.
Jonathan Jones was the Patriots’ nominee for the award last season. Wise is another deserving candidate and a surefire man of the year, win or lose.
