Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is on a bye this week, but that didn’t stop him from watching NFL football. Specifically, Mahomes was laser-focused on this 62-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass from Carolina Panthers quarterback P.J. Walker to receiver D.J. Moore with 12 seconds left in regulation of the Panthers’ Sunday game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Has to be the best throw of the year and not even close! 🎯🎯🎯 https://t.co/NW4TdwWBpU

Sadly for the Panthers, this amazing Mahomes-approved play didn’t do what it needed to do for the Panthers. In his post-touchdown celebration, Moore took off his helmet, which led to a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Kicker Eddy Pineiro missed the longer extra point, which put the game at a 34-34 tie, and in overtime, Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo booted a 41-yard game-winner.
So, a less than optimal result for Walker, but at least he’s got Patrick Mahomes impressed.
