Patrice Evra notes biggest Manchester United change under Erik ten Hag

Manchester United favourite Patrice Evra admits he has been impressed with how Erik ten Hag and his team are mixing it with their top-four rivals this season. Fred and Bruno Fernandes were on target as Tottenham were well beaten at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Next up for Ten Hag and his evolving United is a trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon (5.30pm). But can the Dutchman add Chelsea to his growing list of impressive scalps?

United have already overcome Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham this campaign. However, while they suffered on derby day against Manchester City - with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both netting hat-tricks - there is reason to suggest United are bridging the gap on those above them.

Evra's former club finished a dismal sixth spot in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season. But the ever-popular Frenchman is encouraged by the alterations that have been implemented at Old Trafford and beyond since the summer.

Speaking in his role as a Betfair ambassador, Evra said: "The football and philosophy that is being implemented is developing so fast. It was even really difficult to pick a man of the match after the game.

"It was a real team performance and the manner in which they won was more important than the result."

Evra added: "In most of the big games, United have shown consistency apart from Man City, but there is progress. Playing against Arsenal and Liverpool they didn't control the game but, against Tottenham, United were in control.

"Everyone was disappointed with the draw against Newcastle, but it's not like they're a small team.

"United need to play with that same intensity every game."
