Passengers slam Leeds Bradford Airport 'shambles' this morning with massive queues

Frustrated passengers have slammed an airport named the 'worst in the UK' after customers again faced travel chaos today.

Leeds Bradford Airport has come under fire in recent days after huge queues saw passengers missing flights, and the problems look to be continuing this morning.

'Huge queues' have been photographed by airport users, with some passengers reportedly stuck in line at security just ten minutes before their flight was due to depart.

Several people took to social media to share their outrage, with one Twitter user warning others the airport "is as bad as people are saying." @Brad7Lee said: "For anyone coming to #leedsbradfordairport it really is as bad as people are saying. 3 hours at least this morning for security."

@ramjam1973 added: "Huge queues at #leedsbradfordairport for security, Get there early even for fast track." Another passenger, who did not wish to be named, said: “I've been to this airport many times before and never seen queues quite like it - it really is as busy as everyone has been saying. Not the most thrilling thing to have to do on the way to a much-anticipated holiday."

It is reported there are "standstill queues" causing "chaos by the doors", with some people struggling to enter with suitcases or prams due to the queues. Police are also in attendance, patrolling the airport.

Leeds Bradford Airport was recently named worst in the UK in 2022, by The Daily Telegraph. The newspaper ranked several of the country's busiest airports by scoring them based on factors like flight cancellations and reliability. Of the 16 ranked, Leeds Bradford Airport came joint last with Bristol.

Responding to the news, a spokesperson for the airport said: “We are disappointed by this ranking. As an ambitious airport, we’re striving to do better. Looking to the future, we’re moving ahead with plans to dramatically improve our passengers’ experience through upgrades to our terminal, and we continuously work with airlines and ground handling agents to minimise delays and cancellations to flights.”
