Josh Papali'i, his teammates, coaches and Canberra Raiders fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
The departing veteran forward has been cleared to play for the Green Machine against the Brisbane Broncos on Friday night in the final Raiders home game of the season, which doubles as Papali'i's Canberra farewell.
Papali'i was put on report in the Raiders' 24-20 victory over the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday for high contact, but the club great did not appear on the match review committee charge sheet on Sunday.
The Bruce fixture is set to be the 34-year-old's 341st NRL game and on Monday afternoon Papali'i is expected to provide more clarity on his next move after he leaves Canberra this season to either play on elsewhere, or retire.
Papali'i said in July he had received "a lot of interest" from another club seeking his services next season, but following his footy career he still hopes to come back to Raiders HQ and take on a welfare role at the club.
"He's a special person in this club," Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said of Papali'i.
"But it always comes to an end, playing for your club.
"He's got some big decisions to make going forward and he's got the support of the Canberra Raiders."
It wasn't as good news for Canberra's English forward Morgan Smithies, who is headed to the Perth Bears next season.
Smithies will miss the Raiders' final home game after suffering a concussion against the Sharks. He is now in the 11-day stand down period as per concussion protocols and won't be available for selection to play the Broncos.
As the Raiders men can begin preparations for Papali'i's last hurrah at Bruce and a juicy rematch against the Broncos following last season's heartbreaking finals defeat, the Canberra NRLW team were also in a good mood on Sunday.
The women scored a sensational 25-18 comeback win over the Knights, for the team's first-ever NRLW victory against Newcastle.
A clutch field goal from halfback Zahara Temara put the Raiders ahead 19-18 before prop Sophie Holyman crossed for her second try of the day in the final minutes to seal the win.
"We were actually very calm and knew what we needed to do," Temara said post-game.
Newcastle had been in control for much of the match, but when Sidney Taylor was sin-binned for a hip-drop tackle in the 47th minute, the Raiders began to wrestle back some momentum.
Along with Holyman, Canberra's Elise Simpson had a double and Mackenzie Wiki joined her on the tryscorers list.
The victory sees the Raiders women announce themselves as genuine NRLW finals contenders, with the Knights joining reigning premiers Brisbane Broncos as their most recent scalps.
"In that second half we were a little more clinical. I'm super proud of the group how they turned it around," Raiders NRLW coach Darrin Borthwick said.
"The belief within the group is building. It's just about not overplaying our hand and playing to our strengths.
"We're not getting too far ahead of ourselves."
The Raiders play their next NRLW game against the Bulldogs in Sydney on Saturday.
