The handyman seen stealing Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's sex tape in Disney+ series Pam & Tommy has claimed he actually had nothing to do with it.
Rand Gauthier, played by Seth Rogen in the drama, is seen in the show breaking into the famous couple's home in 1995 to steal their safe after Tommy fired him and refused to pay him for the work he'd carried out - or even return his tools.
After stealing the safe, Rand stumbles upon an explicit home video starring the Baywatch star and Motley Crue drummer.
He teams up with his porn producer pal to sell the tape on the internet, only to be tracked down by the couple's private eye and find himself in a huge heap of trouble.
But now, the real man behind the character has insisted that the show is far from the truth.
Electrician Rand says he actually had nothing to do with the theft, but that mafia killers forced him to take the blame.
He's claimed that it was the feared criminal Gambino family who were the real force behind the footage getting out there and that they made him take the fall for it.
The 63-year-old told The Sun on Sunday : "After the sex tape was stolen, I told a capo (boss) with the Gambino crime family, 'Everyone thinks this is me, I don’t want it on my shoulders'.
"He told me, 'We want it on your shoulders'. He made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and I am not in a position to argue with the Gambino family. I am not a thug.
"So the whole thing fell on me. But the truth is I had nothing to do with stealing the sex tape and I didn’t make one cent from it."
Rand offered an apology to Pamela for his role in the tape being distributed around the world in 1996, but says he was only a bit-player in a much larger conspiracy.
He said he was "genuinely sorry" if Pam was "traumatised" by what had happened.
And while he admits feeling guilty about his part in the events, he says that the whole thing also changed his life and that it almost led to him being "killed".
Pam, now 54, was devastated when an intimate film she made with her new husband Tommy, now 59, became the first celebrity sex tape to go viral.
The couple divorced in 1998.
