Paddy McGuinness will be seen in meltdown as he heads into The Great British Bake Off tent. Four more famous faces will be seen on Sunday night (April 9) putting their baking skills to the test on the charity spin-off of the Channel 4 show.
Last week, BBC Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, Olympic diver Tom Daley, actor David Morrissey and actress and stand-up comedian Lucy Beaumont were seen being supported by hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas as they faced judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith for a trio of new challenges.
But this weekend, there will be another quartet of celebrities as Bolton-born Paddy, Loose Women star Coleen Nolan, Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas and Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor. And in a first look at the episode, it appears things go quite wrong for Paddy.
The comedian and TV presenter swore during a meltdown as he watched his cake collapse in the oven, meaning he had to start all over again. And his despair wasn't helped by he fellow baker Coleen who was the one to spot something was wrong as she asked him: “What the hell is that?”
“That’s nice, isn’t it?" Paddy, 49, clapped back. "That’s the encouragement you want. ‘What the hell is that?” he added before actually realising the his baking fail. As he takes his gingerbread out the oven, it completely falls apart with some of it even dropping onto the floor.
The Top Gear host appears to swear, but it’s not clear what word he uses as it is bleeped out. "The shaft has collapsed," he said explaining what has happened to his back before cheekily quipping: "The story of my life." He then added: "No, no, no, no, that’s not good. I don’t know what to do."
But the dad-of-three wasn't giving up and will be seen picking up some of his bake off the floor and putting it back on his work surface. As his fellow celebs look on horrified at what they just witnessed, Paddy is heard saying: "Now listen, they’ll never know. Reset." Detailing his new plan, he adds: "So I’m going to make another batch. We go again. We do not get stopped by a ginger biscuit."
