A family staying in a static caravan at Kenmore heard their dog bark in the night - then discovered valuable paddleboards had been stolen from outside.
Sheila Strop told the PA how her dog barked at around 2.30am on May 31.
Despite going outside to check and seeing nothing amiss, when morning came, the family staying at a caravan pitch at Mains of Taymouth discovered two paddleboards had been taken.
“I had two Red SUP 10,6 Ride boards on my decking at our static caravan on Mains of Taymouth near the river,” Sheila explained.
“I was woken with my dog barking around 2.30am early on Tuesday, May 31. I got up because of the noise and checked outside but didn’t see anything.
“The dog barked again a while later. In the morning my husband noticed one board lying on the river path but the other board was gone. Not a pleasant experience.
“They were secured to the decking and up the side of the hut - so not easy to see unless you were looking for them.
“We have been coming here for eight years and never had any bother. This is the first theft.
“While my husband managed to recover one board on the river path opposite Kenmore Hotel, the new one has gone.
“The sad thing is, they took my 15-year-old daughter’s new board.”
She explained Red SUPs (stand-up paddle boards) retail at £1000 .
Sheila told the PA she has notified police and park owners.
The crime reference for anyone who spots a board being offered for sale from a suspicious source is CR/0024847/22.
