The Green Bay Packers upgraded four players on Tuesday’s updated Week 4 injury report. Receiver Christian Watson, cornerback Jaire Alexander, right tackle Zach Tom and cornerback Carrington Valentine all went from “did not participate” on Monday to “limited” on Tuesday. The Packers didn’t practice Monday but held a walkthrough on Tuesday.
Matt LaFleur’s team hosts the Detroit Lions on “Thursday Night Football” to open Week 4.
Buy Packers TicketsThe four non-participants on Tuesday were left tackle David Bakhtiari, left guard Elgton Jenkins, linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and safety Zayne Anderson. Although Bakhtiari hasn’t practice since Aug. 30, he must be considered day-to-day with unknown playing status each week. The other three cannot be expected to play Thursday.
Watson said his plan is to play Thursday, so barring a setback he’ll make his 2023 season debut. The Packers also sound ready to welcome back running back Aaron Jones, who has missed two games with a hamstring injury. Watson and Jones would provide a big boost to an offense that was poor for three quarters but caught fire in the fourth quarter last week against the Saints.
Alexander’s return to activity suggests he could be back after missing one game.
The other good news is the upgraded status of Tom and Valentine, who were both hurt on Sunday. It appears both will have a chance to recover in time to play against the Lions.
A final injury report with playing time designations will arrive on Wednesday. Inactives are due 90 minutes before kickoff Thursday.
