Good afternoon and welcome to Our Liverpool, shining a spotlight on what's going on across Merseyside.
January is thankfully a distant memory, but the first day of the new month has been one of mass industrial action across the country. An estimated 500,000 workers have walked out, including teachers, railway staff, nurses and dockers.
We've had reporters on the ground visiting pickets across the region and it's good to see people still in good spirits.
"Where's the Arteta money, Gill?!"
Workers are fighting for fair pay and their battle isn't something that should be taken lightly. However, it's great to see some of that famous Scouse humour shining through. Teachers at Formby High School took to the picket line with some imaginative signs aimed at education secretary Gillian Keegan.
Eurovision celebrations get underway
It's official - the city of Liverpool has been officially handed the Eurovision host title in a momentous ceremony that took place at St George's Hall last night. The handover marked the unofficial start of Eurovision season, climaxing in the contest on Saturday, May 13 2023.

Unsellable home
In the property world, we've taken a look at the 'most unsellable' home on Merseyside, which has been on the market for years. Boasting a town centre location and a massive six bedrooms, it's beyond me why the Southport terrace can't find a new owner.
What's in a name?
Influencer-in-chief Molly-Mae Hague revealed her baby daughter's name yesterday and it of course sent the internet into a tailspin. Bambi might not be to everyone's taste, but the vitriol aimed at the new mum and her name choice has been a bit over the top. Speaking from experience, having a unique name hasn't hindered me in the slightest. In fact quite the opposite - it's a great conversation starter!
