'Our fielding has let us down', says Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill

NEW DELHI: Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill on Saturday lamented the team's fielding performance, emphasising its detrimental impact on their overall game. Gill's statement reflects the significance of fielding lapses in cricket, where even minor errors can sway the course of a match.

Addressing this issue, Gill said it is crucial for the GT to rectify their shortcomings and bolster their competitiveness in future encounters.

"The talk is to win four in four. It's important to turn up and deliver our best. I feel our fielding has let us down. We have had a chat about it. We need to be a better team as a fielding unit," Gill said at the toss in Bengaluru.

"IPL is such a long tournament. It's important to turn up on the day. We have two changes, Manav Suthar makes his debut and Josh Little comes in," Gill added.

Gill's acknowledgment highlights the team's commitment to improvement and their determination to elevate their standards in all facets of the game, ensuring a more polished performance on the field.

Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The RCB are at the bottom with six points from 10 matches, while the Titans are placed eighth with eight points from 10 matches.
