The Ohio State football program will soon know if it’s done enough to land one of its top recruiting targets for the 2023 class, 5-star wide receiver Carnell Tate. Of any recruiting battles out there, this one seems to be the most polarizing for many with some back in forth between fanbases on social media.
OSU has made it clear that it wants Tate to be one of the cornerstones of its 2023 class and has pulled out all the stops to land the IMG Academy wide receiver. However, there appears to be stiff competition coming from Tennessee. Tate has long been known to be considering three schools, with Notre Dame being the other. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 185-pound receiver has also had Alabama and Georgia in his top five, but the overwhelming feeling is that it’s between the Buckeyes and Vols.
We won’t have to wait long. According to 247Sports (subscription required), Tate has indeed already made his decision and will be announcing it very soon, reportedly just as quickly as his announcement video can be completed over the next couple of weekends.

Tate has gone on the record with being impressed with Brian Hartline and how he has developed first-round receivers recently, but Tennessee has been coming on strong as of late.
Either way, when we have a more firm date, or if any further news is made available, we’ll be all over it like wrinkles on a pair of Jim Harbaugh khakis.
