One FPL manager triple-captained Wout Faes against Liverpool and it was a disaster

While no one can claim to have had a worse Friday night that Wout Faes, the one Fantasy Premier League manager who triple captained him might have come close.

The Belgian scored two own goals inside eight minutes as his Leicester City side lost 2-1 to Liverpool in a frantic game at Anfield. Brendan Rodgers' side took the lead inside four minutes when Kieran Dewsbury-Hall wandered through a gaping whole in the Reds back line, and despite Liverpool turning the screw as they looked for a quick-fire leveller, the Foxes had their fair share of openings.

Jurgen Klopp's side were handed a late Christmas present when Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross was flicked in off an outstretched Faes leg, the defender's toe hooking the ball over Danny Ward in comical fashion. And the Belgian was on the wrong end of some poor luck again just eight minutes later when Darwin Nunez's chipped finish struck the post and then bounced of his knee and in.

Faes was met with calls of 'shoot!' from the Kop end whenever he picked the ball up during the second-half, rubbing salt in the wound and capping off a dismal night for the 24-year-old.

And one Fantasy Premier League player had an equally disastrous night after it was revealed someone had triple captained the Leicester defender.

By triple captaining a player for one week, fantasy managers ensure that players score will be trebled - although that works both ways, with a red card or own goal being worth three times as many minus points.

And with Faes ending the game on minus three, the one unlucky - or ill-advised, depending on your outlook - boss ended with a gut-wrenching minus nine.

Another 40 managers captained the centre-back, handing them a demoralising -6 from their main man for the week, although one would question a decision to captain a defender coming to Anfield to face Liverpool.
