Staying in Paris and the Olympics village with its cardboard beds is cool.
But imagine getting to stay in Tahiti. In a cruise ship. And compete in Olympic events there. You’re in, right?
Well, that’s what the surfers are doing. Instead of competing in Paris and, say, swimming in the yucky Seine River, they’re staying on a cruise ship called the Aranui 5 in Teahupo’o in Tahiti. Why there? Because it’s a French Polynesian island and, presumably, the surfing conditions there are good.
Want a look inside the floating Olympic village? Glad you asked. Here you go. It’s SO SO NICE:
2024 Olympic surfers will compete in Tahiti, over 9,000 miles away from Paris.
Many are staying in the first 'Floating Olympic Village'—a 230-passenger ship named Aranui 5.

Surfers have started arriving in Teahupo'o, Tahiti, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic surfing competitions, which will feature Tofino's Sanoa Dempfle-Olin.
There was a welcoming ceremony, and a cruise ship is serving as the Athletes' Village.
It will be quite the spectacle. pic.twitter.com/BglyZ70ame
