Vernon Kay has claimed to have worked out the reason behind I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Olivia Attwood ’s untimely exit.
Father-of-two Vernon took part in the much-loved ITV show back in 2020 when it was based in Wales, and ended up making it to the final and finishing in third place.
And now Vernon has weighed in on reality star Olivia’s departure after ITV revealed she left the jungle when medics grew concerned over the results of a health test in camp.
The 31-year-old was happy and content on the show but concerns were raised by a member of the crew following a standard test that the celebs do behind the scenes during the series.
Vernon reckons the cause of the concern was the prawns she was seen munching on in the VIP section with Chris Moyles in Sunday night’s opening episode, before the celebs headed into camp.
Taking to Twitter, the former contestant wrote: “Olivia Atwood has left @imacelebrity hopes all is ok! Them prawns sat in the sunlight all that time were never a good idea…”
Olivia is understood to have begged to be allowed to rejoin her campmates, including Boy George and Mike Tindall.
It was ITV's decision to remove Olivia from the show but one friend told the Mirror that her exit "has nothing to do with her ADHD or anxiety”.
"Olivia wasn’t feeling ill, unwell, she was perfectly fine. There was just something that came up which concerned the show's medical team and it escalated from there.
"The medical team runs tests with the celebs throughout the series to make sure they are all OK. Health and safety is paramount on a show like this where people are sleeping in a jungle and taking on huge challenges without much food or drink.
"Olivia was very keen to continue and was gutted when she was told that having left camp for tests she was not going back. Her I'm A Celebrity journey was only just beginning and she is devastated."
Her exit comes as new jungle campmate Chris Moyles revealed he has got some good "underwear advice" from former contestant Vernon Kay.
The radio DJ refused to detail exactly what was said but explained he turned to pal Vernon for advice after he went on the Welsh version of the show in 2020.
Speaking to The Mirror, Chris said: "Vernon gave me some advice to do with underwear, I won’t share it, but he did call me and say I’ll have a great time and absolutely love it and he gave me tips on eating kangaroo testicles, he said ‘just shove it in’."
