Ohio State offers 2025 Illinois defense end after working out in front of coaches

Camp season is in full force and for Ohio State, it gives them an opportunity to get to see and work with prospects up close.

The hands-on approach has helped the coaching staff evaluate prospects like Illinois 2025 defensive end, Christopher Burgess Jr. The 6-foot, 5-inch, 260-pound lineman was offered a scholarship after working out at one of their camps on Tuesday afternoon.

Burgess Jr. is ranked as the No. 22 edge rusher and 255th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Buckeyes aren’t the only major program after the talented defensive end, as Burgess Jr. already held offers from Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, and USC.

Ohio State has continued its recruitment of Illinois and has done a very good job selecting top-end talent in the state. The Buckeyes are recruiting Marquise Lightfoot and Justin Scott of the 2024 class and recently have signed Carnell Tate and Kaleb Brown, although Brown has since transferred out.
