Ohio State misses out on 2024 Texas safety

Although Ohio State was a finalist for Texas safety, Jordon Johnson-Rubell, it was seen as a battle for the Buckeyes against a Texas lean for his commitment.

The Longhorns would eventually win out over the long run, as Johnson-Rubell made his verbal commitment to Texas on Saturday afternoon. The 5-foot, 10-inch,180-pound member of the secondary is ranked as the No. 11 best at his position and 134th overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Although the Buckeyes already have a commitment from Jaylen McClain at safety, they were looking to add at least one, possibly two more to the 2024 recruiting class. The coaching staff will now turn their focus on players like KJ Bolden, Zaquan Patterson, and the potential flip of Georgia commit, Peyton Woodyard.
