Odell Beckham Junior future decision close as meeting and physical scheduled

2022 Super Bowl winner and free agent, Odell Beckham Jr, is reportedly set to fly into New York on Sunday ahead of a meeting with the Jets on Monday as a move to the franchise appears to edge ever closer.

Beckham Jr, 30, was released by the Los Angeles Rams in 2022 and hasn’t played since his Super Bowl win after suffering the second ACL tear of his NFL career. But with the Jets aiming to strike a trade for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the New York-based franchise want the box office pair to link up with the hope of firing them to their first Super Bowl since 1969.

And despite the Rodgers trade talks dragging on, the Jets are keen for Beckham Jr to familiarise himself with the Jets before inking a contract, according to SNYtv. First reported by ESPN, the Jets are poised to meet with OBJ and are also keen for Beckham Jr to undergo a physical due to his long injury layoff.

The wide receiver will fly into New York on Sunday and meet with Jets staff on Monday. Beckham Jr is said to want a one-year deal worth $15million (£12m).

The Jets’ movement on Beckham Jr comes after general manager Joe Douglas sent fans into a frenzy insisting Rodgers would be joining the franchise.

In a public appearance at Audacy's WFAN Sports Radio alongside CBS NFL analyst Boomer Esiason, Douglas said: “He’s gonna be here.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys have expressed an interest in Beckham Jr, while Las Vegas Raiders fans swarmed the NFL star in a plea for him to sign for their team. Raiders fans’ begging came after Beckham Jr attended the Los Angeles Lakers’ NBA matchup with the Clippers. The Rams have also been linked with a reunion with their former star man.

Beckham Jr is unlikely to entertain the Raiders, and the franchise appears to be focused on April’s draft. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Raiders brought in Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers for a visit. Flowers is expected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming draft.
