Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has insisted that his loan spell at Marseille has improved his confidence following a tough first season in England.
Tavares, 22, featured 28 times in all competitions for Mikel Arteta's side last season, starting 17. However, he was the victim of a couple of tough moments in his debut campaign in North London, with him being substituted off after 35 minutes against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.
The Gunners allowed him to join Marseille on a season-long loan deal after the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City for £35 million. With Kieran Tierney already ahead of him at left-back, the Ukranian's signing meant seeking regular football elsewhere was the best option.

Since joining Les Phocéens, Tavares has made 14 appearances and registered three Ligue 1 goals. He's also made four appearances in their Champions League group - with Igor Tudor's men currently one point behind Tottenham.
After previously stating he is yet to think about his future, the Portuguese defender has insisted he feels 'great' in his new team and has discussed how he has overcome any adaptation issues with the move. "Adjustment problems? Not particularly.
"If not the language, even if the coach speaks English and Italian. It's easier for me," he told Quotidien du Sport (via Le 10 Sport).
"I feel great in my new team. I gained confidence from my first days thanks to the welcome of my teammates and the support of the fans. It was essential for me."
