Nottingham Michelin-starred restaurant teases about new venture

Food lovers will be in for a treat after it was announced that one of Nottingham's top restaurants is expanding. It was August 2017 when fine dining restaurant Alchemilla opened its doors in Nottingham, going on to earn its first Michelin star two years later.

In that time chef patron Alex Bond has wowed diners with tasting menus. Meat and fish are served but it's the imaginative, plant-based, dishes that are in the spotlight under the vaulted arches of a Victorian carriage house in Derby Road, with a hidden roof garden for drinks.

Last week Alchemilla was named the 70th best in the UK in the National Restaurant Awards - one of the many accolades it has notched up for dishes such lobster with fermented turnip and duck, morels and peppercorn sauce.

Now he's gearing up to launch a new venture but at the moment is giving very little away in terms of what, when or where. Alex teased followers by posting a photograph of a key on Instagram.

The post said: "After months of planning and scheming in the background I am thrilled that we now have the keys to our new venture. Watch this space guys for a whole new concept from us."

Nearly 1,500 fans liked the post, and commented "exciting times and "can't wait to see what's coming." The key is engraved with the number '10' prompting several to ask "is it Downing Street?"

During the pandemic Alchemilla launched a DIY Dirty Burger & Wing Box and four-course dinner boxes for customers to enjoy at home. Alex, who previously worked at Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham, Auberge du Lac, The Wild Rabbit and Turner's, has appeared on TV programmes including Great British Menu and Snackmasters where he tried to recreate a KFC Zinger Burger.
