Nottingham Forest transfers: Rangers flop in £7m link as January deal 'close'

Nottingham Forest will look to the January transfer window for another chance to do business.

The winter market will be nowhere near as busy as the summer one for the Reds, though, but they could bring in some extra bodies for a Premier League survival push while the window could also be useful for moving on some fringe players. Since the Reds' promotion to the Premier League there has been an avalanche of rumours linking players with Steve Cooper's side.

The latest transfer talk tips Rangers flop Lassana Coulibaly to depart Salernitana in Italy for Trentside while a more believable report claims forgotten man Loic Mbe Soh could depart the City Ground come January. Meanwhile, there are yet to be any concrete links ahead of the return of football after the break of the World Cup and with it, the January transfer window.

Rangers flop signed by Gerrard in £7m Forest transfer link

Forest are reportedly interested in signing Salernitana midfielder Lassana Coulibaly. The 26-year-old joined the Serie A outfit last year in a bid to revive his career and has made 48 appearances so far.

Coulibaly, who arrived at Rangers on loan in 2018, couldn't live up to expectations under then-manager Steven Gerrard. He has since managed to kick on and make a name for himself in Italy. An impressive string of performances in midfield for Davide Nicola's side have reportedly attracted interest from Steve Cooper's Forest.

January deal for forgotten man 'close'

Forest defender Loic Mbe Soh is reportedly 'close' to leaving the City Ground when the January transfer window opens. The Franco-Cameroonian has barely had a sniff of first-team action this season, featuring mainly for the U23s' side instead.

That's why he is reportedly set for a move back to France as he 'seeks playing time'. Ligue 2 outfit Guingamp 'would welcome' him on loan for the second half of the season, according to French outlet Le Telegramme.

Forest's key role in transfer revealed

Forest played a key role in former loanee John Bostock's transfer to rivals Notts County. Bostock, who spent the 2019-20 season on loan at the City Ground, has signed an initial 18-month contract with Notts after leaving Doncaster in the summer.

Prior to his move, the midfielder spent three months training at Forest and kept himself ticking over with an appearance for the under-21s. But when Notts came calling, the 30-year-old told how he was 'blown away' after taking part in training during a two-week break from National League action.

Reds sent clear message over January move

Forest supporters have responded to a video posted by Olympiacos of Josh Bowler in training. The Forest loanee was spotted dribbling past all his team mates in impressive fashion before scoring a goal.

Despite his talent, the 23-year-old has found life in Greece difficult since making a loan switch in the summer. Bowler has been restricted to limited playing time under boss Michel and Forest could recall the winger in January.
