Nottingham Forest transfer target in 'advanced talks' over £15m deal

Fulham are reportedly in 'advanced talks' to sign Brighton and Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay amid recent interest from Nottingham Forest.

The 26 year-old had been on Forest's radar this summer as Steve Cooper continues to revamp his squad having welcomed 16 new signings this window. Following the latest arrival of Morgan Gibbs-White, it is reported that the Reds' interest has since cooled down.

The deal is said to be worth £15 million, as reported by The Athletic, and it adds that a proposed move is not yet done but negotiations are moving "towards an agreement."

The Seagulls have reportedly rejected a £15m offer from Serie A side Salernitana last month, with the striker out of contract at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Maupay's time on the south coast has been limited after the arrival of German striker Deniz Undav from Belgian side Royal Union-Saint-Gilloise. Maupay was named as an unused substitute in his side's goalless draw against Newcastle United last weekend, with Danny Welbeck and Undav featuring.

Speaking in his press-conference on Friday, Brighton boss Graham Potter addressed Maupay's future. "No update," he said. "As I understand I don't think Neal is desperate to leave and we are certainly not kicking him out the door."

Maupay joined Potter's side in 2019 from Brentford and has gone on to score 27 goals in 109 Premier League appearances.
