Nottingham Forest 'increasingly' close to pulling off £16m transfer

Alvaro Odriozola is reportedly 'increasingly' close to a move to the City Ground to join Nottingham Forest from Real Madrid.

The defender's future is up in the air after he returned from a loan spell at Fiorentina. Odriozola is reportedly not part of Carlo Ancelotti's plans, having missed pre-season, while also not being included in the matchday squad for Celta Vigo this weekend.

Although Madrid have stated that he is suffering from a "discomfort in his left-calf muscle", the 26-year-old is said to be "looking for a destination" and "accelerating his departure" from the Bernabeu, according to reports.

The report also notes that "all signs point to England", with Forest reportedly "very interested" in securing a deal.

Being under contract for another two years, a fee of around €20m (roughly £16.8m) has been mooted, with the Spanish giants only keen to let him go on a permanent transfer after sanctioning a loan deal last season.

Would Odriozola be a good signing for Forest? Let us know in the comment section...
