Nottingham Forest are hoping to sign Union Berlin forward Taiwo Awoniyi.
Signing a forward is high on head coach Steve Cooper's list of priorities this summer. With Sam Surridge and Lyle Taylor the only contracted options - Lewis Grabban remains in discussions over a new contract - the Reds are exploring options of who they could add to their Premier League squad.
Awoniyi, 24, scored 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season. He also contributed two assists.

Nottinghamshire Live understands a deal has been discussed and according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Awoniyi has a release clause of around €20m (£17m) that the Reds could look to trigger. He adds that Forest are one of "several clubs interested" and that the 24-year-old is "keen" to leave Union Berlin with his eyes set on a Premier League transfer.
If Awoniyi is to join the Reds, his former employers Liverpool will be guaranteed a share of what Forest end up paying. According to the Liverpool Echo, the young forward had a 10% sell on clause inserted in his exit package when he joined Union Berlin permanently in 2021.
Awoniyi joined Liverpool in 2015, after previously representing Imperial Academy in Nigeria, for a fee of £400,000. He was immediately loaned out to German side FSV Frankfurt. The forward never made a competitive appearance for Liverpool due to work permit complications.
As part of an attempt to secure a permit, Awoniyi experienced seven loans during his six-year stay at Merseyside as he set up temporary camps across Europe, ranging from Germany to Belgium and Holland. After a successful 2020/21 campaign with Berlin, he made his loan spell permanent in a move valued at £6.5m.
