Nottingham Forest eye Leeds United transfer target as Djed Spence claim made

The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news brought to you by NottinghamshireLive on June 15...

Premier League pair rival Forest for Tottenham transfer

Nottingham Forest have been joined by two Premier League rivals in their interest of Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon.

The 24-year-old defender has been identified as a transfer target in order to bolster the Reds' central options at the City Ground. According to transfers expert Ekrem Konur, however, the Reds will be rivaled by Fulham and Wolves in wanting to sign the Wales international.

Central defence is one of Steve Cooper 's priorities this summer - along with central midfield, out-wide in midfield and defence, as well as up-front. Following the expiry of Tobias Figueiredo's contract, the Reds are left with just Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna as senior options.

Loic Mbe Soh and Jonathan Panzo are alternatives, although they have been limited in their first-team opportunities.

Reds in six-way transfer fight to sign £3m Leeds United target

Nottingham Forest are one of six sides competing for Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo's signature this summer.

The 21-year-old - who is primarily a right-winger, but can also feature on the left or up-front - spent last season on loan from Schalke at Belgian side Cercle Brugge. He scored nine goals and contributed two assists from 26 league appearances in 2021-22.

According to German outlet Bild, Steve Cooper could look to add another Welshman to his squad after Brugge opted not to exercise their option to buy the forward. Forest face competition to sign the 21-year-old, however, with reports from Germany saying that the Reds are joined by Premier League rivals Brentford and Leeds United as well as French first division clubs RC Lens, Stade Brest and ESTAC Troyes.

Matondo's current contract with Schalke is set to expire next summer and Bild say clubs would have to pay at least €4m (around £3m) to sign the winger who, according to reports, joined from Manchester City's academy in 2019 for around £10m.

Forest setback as target reportedly rejects Premier League offer

Nottingham Forest transfer target Arnaud Kalimuendo has reportedly rejected a move to the City Ground. The 20-year-old scored 12 goals in 34 league appearances whilst on-loan from PSG to fellow Ligue 1 side RC Lens last season.

Signing a striker is high up on Steve Cooper's list of priorities heading into the summer transfer window. But according to Foot Mercato, Kalimuendo has turned down a move to Forest.

They claim Kalimuendo - who has two years left on his deal at the Stade de France - has "politely declined the approach" from Forest.

Leicester City and Newcastle United have previously been named as having an interest in the youngster, who has made just four appearances for PSG and has instead spent the past two seasons at Lens on-loan. During his time in the north of France, Kalimuendo has scored 21 goals and contributed six assists in 65 appearances.

Djed Spence transfer claim made as Forest and Spurs made to wait

Djed Spence has "expressed a preference" to join Tottenham Hotspur over Nottingham Forest and other interested clubs this summer, it has been claimed.

The 21-year-old Middlesbrough player is said to favour Tottenham over "other suitors", of whom Forest are one. Both clubs are interested in signing the 21-year-old on a permanent basis after his impressive loan season for the Reds in the Championship last term.

According to The Athletic, Boro and Tottenham are in discussions over a fee, but Champions League football under Antonio Conte is seemingly proving more attractive to the England under-21 international.

His stock rose dramatically after he shone last season under the guidance of Steve Cooper, playing a key role as Forest earned promotion back to the Premier League.
