Nottingham bakery takes on McDonald's with 'scrumptious' £3 breakfast muffin

A Nottingham bakery is catching people’s attention as they’re selling a McDonald’s breakfast muffin dupe. The bakery is taking on McDonald’s with the sausage, egg and cheese muffins that have been available to buy for less than two weeks - and they’re already in demand.

Bradbury’s Bakery is in Highbury Road and has been in the area for around 50 years.

McDonald’s sells their muffins as part of their breakfast menu which is available from 5am-11.30 and Bradbury’s new breakfast item is just as scrumptious. As well as selling sweet treats, lunch and common cobs we all love, the bakery has now added the breakfast muffins onto their menu for £3 and £4 for a double.

This week, On Facebook, the Bradbury’s Bakery official page had announced: “Sausage, Egg and Cheese Muffin Now available 9-3. Yummy.”

Scott and Lisa Tunnicliffe have owned the bakery for nine years. With a yellow ‘M’ similar to the familiar bright yellow McDonald’s ‘M’, on the menu, the bakery has written McBradbury’s.

Speaking about how ‘McBradbury’s’ has become a thing, Scott said: “We’ve only started doing it this week, we thought that there was a gap in our breakfast for it, we do cobs but one or two people had suggested ‘why don’t you do this, why don’t you do that’ and we liked the idea so we gave it a whirl.”

McDonald’s sells their sausage and egg McMuffin for £2.89 and a double sausage and egg muffin for £3.49. They’re available with sauces including ketchup, barbecue and brown sauce.

Scott continued and said: “We put the eggs in a silicone and they pop out really steamed and stay hot. We sold 12 [muffins] on our first day of doing them but people have been asking for them. We want anything new we put out to do well and for people to come back so it builds and builds.

“We’re getting a poster done to advertise them soon and we’re available on Just Eat.”

Other popular buys at the bakery include butterscotch tarts, cornflake cakes, ham salads and more.
