North Carolina's 211 line has been inundated with over 2,900 calls from concerned individuals reporting loved ones they are unable to reach since the onset of Hurricane Helene's impacts, as revealed by Governor Roy Cooper.

Upon receiving a report, search and rescue teams are promptly dispatched to conduct welfare checks and assist in any necessary rescues, Governor Cooper emphasized.

Fortunately, some individuals who had initially made reports have since been able to establish contact with their loved ones, thanks to the gradual restoration of cell service in the affected areas, the governor further explained.
