No Hardik, no Pant: India spring surprises in squad against West Indies

India have announced their 15 member squads for the upcoming ODI and T20 International series against the West Indies, with Rishabh Pant missing out despite being widely discussed as one of the possible returns to the white ball setup.

The West Indies series begins on September 27 and will see India field separate 15 member squads for the ODI and T20I formats.

Pant had emerged as one of the names in contention for a return, particularly in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. However, the team management has opted to go with Dhruv Jurel instead, leaving Pant out of both squads.

Pant will now lead the Rest of India side in the upcoming Irani Cup, giving him an opportunity for competitive match practice as he continues his return to the domestic circuit.

Another major change to India's plans comes from Hardik Pandya's fitness situation. The all rounder is yet to regain full fitness and will not return to action for the West Indies series.
