Ninety individuals were arrested at a pro-Palestinian protest held at Dartmouth College on Wednesday. The arrests were made by police in the town of Hanover, New Hampshire, on suspicion of offenses such as criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
The arrests occurred after protesters erected tents on the Dartmouth Green, a move that was deemed unacceptable by the campus safety department. Despite multiple announcements by Dartmouth Safety & Security instructing participants to disperse, many individuals refused to comply.
Both Hanover police and New Hampshire State Police intervened, urging people to leave the area. While some protesters chose to depart, a significant number remained, resulting in the arrests.
Among those arrested were Dartmouth students as well as individuals not affiliated with the college. Video footage captured police removing protesters from the crowd one by one and detaining them using zip ties on Wednesday night.
During the protest, demonstrators could be heard chanting 'Free Palestine' while displaying banners and flags in support of the cause. State police had been deployed to Dartmouth in response to reported illegal activities and at the request of local law enforcement, as confirmed by the New Hampshire Department of Safety.
