New Zealand doubles player Michael Venus was furious with the Australian Open crowd and Nick Kyrgios, labelling the mercurial Australian star an immature ‘absolute k***’ after losing at Melbourne Park.
Venus and German partner Tim Pütz were defeated in three sets by Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis on Tuesday at Kia Arena, where a raucous and atmospheric crowd vehemently cheered the all-Australian partnership, who welcomed the applause.
The home favourites emerged 7-5 3-6 6-3 winners in the contest.
