Nick Knowles shares update on Strictly Come Dancing future after 'devastating' injury

Nick Knowles has provided an update on his Strictly Come Dancing future after suffering a knee injury.

The 62-year-old DIY SOS star had to sit out last week's live show, during which Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones were eliminated.

Spotted using crutches, Knowles expressed how "gutted" he was to miss performing alongside his co-stars.

While it’s still unclear if he’ll return to the ballroom with the likes of Chris McCausland and Dr. Punam Krishan this week, he has now shared a new update on his injury.

Speaking on Wednesday’s It Takes Two alongside his pro partner Luba Mushtuk, the TV star said: “We had a great week learning the dance and we were doing the camera tech rehearsals where the cameras get to see how the dance works and everything.

“Very last step of the dance, I was late getting to where I should and leapt to the position and my one leg stayed still and the rest of me went through.

“A bit of a collapse and realised it wasn’t in a good condition. I hurt my knee basically.”

To which Mushtuk added: “The dance was amazing!”

“Each day gets a little bit better,” Knowles then added. “On Friday, it looked pretty bad to be honest, it felt bad. Saturday was not so good but I got a scan and had a look at that we decided to wait until Monday so we could have a look at that.

“Monday was a little bit stronger and today I got to see the physios and with a lot of rehab from physios and doctors, they have given me clearance to try and dance tomorrow to train.

“If I train tomorrow, that’s not necessarily the end of it. We will see how I do tomorrow and that is all we can say at the moment.”

His 34-year-old pro dancer partner said: “Today was a big day to have the clearance to rehearsal tomorrow.

“Tomorrow we will try and we will go gentle and see what we can do and what we can’t and then adjust it.”

If the couple are able to dance, they’ll be bringing their Movie Week performance to the ballroom, having had to miss out on the theme last weekend.
