NFL fans are pretty sure Justin Herbert excluded Derek Carr on purpose when praising rival QBs

The AFC West should be an absolute barnburner of a division this year. With four premium quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Russell Wilson, and Derek Carr at the helms of the respective squads in the division, there might be a ton of electric football out ahead of us out West.

Well, actually, according to Herbert, there might only be three worthwhile quarterbacks.

In a recent interview that’s been making the rounds on Twitter, Herbert discussed the competitiveness of the heated AFC West and how excited he is to play the “best.” He mentions Mahomes. He mentions Wilson. And with no pause — as if he’s thought of this long ago — Herbert doesn’t mention Carr.

Oh, boy:

Given that Carr now throws to Davante Adams along with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow, it seems extremely unlikely that Herbert simply forgot about the Raiders’ signal-caller.

Perhaps there’s a little bitterness on the part of Herbert with Carr. After all, Carr’s Raiders beat Herbert’s Chargers in a win-or-go-home Week 18 defacto playoff game last season. While unconfirmed, it would be fair to assume Herbert hasn’t forgotten the sting of that defeat and how close the Chargers were to meaningful January football after losing to a rival.

Oh well. Too bad we won’t see the Chargers and Raiders play against each other any time soon so they can work out these feelings. Oh, wait, they play in Week 1 in Los Angeles! Ah, the suspense is terrible. I hope it lasts.

NFL fans also thought Herbert excluded Carr from any compliments on purpose
