Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth is in Spain to complete what will be a record deal for the Magpies as he looks to fly back with Sweden international Aleksandar Isak.
Both Ashworth and head of recruitment Steve Nickson have been locked in talks with Real Sociedad supremo Jokin Aperribay to tie up the £58million transfer that will shatter Newcastle's record books. Isak did not hesitate about a move to the Premier League when the chance was initially put to him back in July.
Back then Newcastle and Real could not agree a fee and the Sweden star was told to return to training. But Newcastle maintained their dialogue with the La Liga club.

And as reported by Chronicle Live on August 11, Isak remained very much on the radar. Since then deals have slipped by Newcastle chiefs but the presence of Yasir Al-Rumayyan at Newcastle's game with Manchester City has coincided with a mega deal being actioned.
The Magpies have started the season in unbeaten fashion but arrived at their Liverpool city centre hotel with injury concerns. Callum Wilson's hamstring concerns have resulted in a sensible decision by Toon bosses to ensure they not only have cover but also a top notch forward to help stiffen up competition at Benton.
With the deal at the advanced stage it will take Newcastle's spending over the £200million mark in 2022. High level talks have unfolded in the last 48 hours between Newcastle chiefs and Real supremo Aperribay.
A source at the La Liga club said: "If this deal goes through it will be a record for both clubs. Newcastle were told to bid up in July and earlier in August but things are moving in the right direction now.
"This would be a great deal for both clubs."
