Newcastle United are believed to have made a club record offer for Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak. The fee is understood to be worth up to £58million for the La Liga club if it goes through.
Talks remained ongoing today but sources in Spain say that negotiations are at an advanced level. United tried for Isak in the summer but did not meet the demands set.
However, after watching a clutch of targets slip by Newcastle have accelerated their transfer chase and hope to conclude a deal for the Sweden international.
High level talks have unfolded in the last 48 hours between Newcastle chiefs and Real supremo Jokin Aperribay. A source at the La Liga club said: "If this deal goes through it will be a record for both clubs. Newcastle were told to bid up in July and earlier in August but things are moving in the right direction now.
"This would be a great deal for both clubs."
