Newcastle United face one of their toughest tests of the season when Manchester City visit St James' Park on Sunday. The reigning Premier League champions have already collected back-to-back victories against West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth respectively but Callum Wilson remains confident heading into the game.
The Magpies followed their home victory against Nottingham Forest in their Premier League opener with a goalless stalemate against Brighton at the Amex.
Eddie Howe's side have made St James' Park a fortress of late - losing just once on home turf in the Premier League since the turn of the year (W8 D1).
Wilson believes the roar of the crowd could give Newcastle the inspiration needed to get a result against the Citizens.
"They are on fire at the moment but what I will emphasize is at St James' Park the crowd are the 12th man every week," Wilson declared on the Footballer's Football Podcast.
Wilson added: "I feel confident, I'm not going to say we're going to beat Man City, but I'll never go into any game thinking it's going to be a difficult one and we're going to lose today.
"I back us to definitely get something out of the game and at home as well it's a totally different game to what it would be away from home."
Wilson has scored once against City in a 3-1 defeat for Bournemouth in December 2018 but has lost all seven of his meetings with Pep Guardiola's outfit.
Newcastle will also be looking to end a run of six straight defeats across all competitions against the Citizens.
