Eddie Howe has been nominated on the shortlist for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after leading Newcastle United to the brink of a top-four finish. The Magpies have been transformed from relegation favourites to contenders to qualify for the Champions League in Howe's brief stint in the St James' Park dugout.
United have only lost five times in the Premier League so far with three matches remaining, and know that two more victories will see off Liverpool's late rally for a top-four finish. Howe's side host Brighton and Leicester City in quick succession, before finishing the season with a trip to struggling Chelsea.
Howe has been named on a six-man shortlist for the award, with Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta both unsurprisingly picked following the title race between Manchester City and Arsenal. Marco Silva has also been nominated with newly-promoted Fulham defying expectations to sit 10th in the table, far removed from the anticipated relegation battle.

The other two nominees are Roberto De Zerbi and Unai Emery, both of whom arrived mid-season to lead Brighton and Aston Villa respectively to challenge for a European spot. Supporters have been invited to vote on their winner from the shortlist, with fans having until 12pm on Monday to select their favourite.
The results of the vote will be combined with those from the Premier League's own panel of football experts to crown a winner. Howe and his five rivals for the award will learn if they have been successful on May 30, two days after the Premier League season ends.
