On a busy Nottingham street, shoppers and local residents have shared their thoughts on plans for a new café-bar restaurant coming to the area. With some surrounding businesses also open until late too, the new restaurant will shut after midnight.
The new cafe -bar known as Vault will be on 7 Clumber Street. An application for a grant of a premise licence has been submitted. The application will allow for activities such as: regulated entertainment, films and the sale of alcohol.
Shoppers walking through busy Clumber Street welcome the plans. Holly Mason, 23 works in a city centre café and lives in Mapperley, said: “If it was an ordinary café selling the basics then I don’t think it would do well but because it sounds like it will have a lot going on, I think it will do well. It’s different from the other competitors around.”

Holly added: “Clumber Street is very busy, once people realise there’s something new, they’ll most likely pop in if they can. The new restaurant will definitely attract new customers all the time.”
Last month, it was reported that Paperchase on Clumber Street had closed for good. Before Paperchase took over the premises on Clumber Street, it was the Virgin Media shop.
Abi Hart, 21 lives in Carlton. The student said: “There’s a lot of students in Nottingham who always like somewhere cheap and cheerful for a coffee and going out at night too so with this place it’s killing two birds with one stone.”
Abi added: “I think it will do well, everyone in the city knows where Clumber Street is and when you’re in town you're always likely to walk up or down here so once it opens, I think it will be popular with all people.”
Daniel Reid, 32 lives in the city centre. The barber said: “It’s a busy strip down here, I’m sure it’ll do well. I’d be scared of setting up a business here as there’s Greggs, McDonald's and other places to eat but hopefully, it goes well
“The plus side is it’s such a busy street they’ll always be someone that will go in and take a look.” Daniel added: “Opening till late is always a good thing.”
