A new McDonald's restaurant is being planned in the car park of Tesco in Pontardawe. The new restaurant is expected to create 120 new jobs and with the company pledging to recruit from the local area.
The site, which is south of Pontardawe town centre, is adjacent to the petrol filling station in the supermarket car park. The proposed single-storey restaurant will include a drive-through, car parking, landscaping, customer order displays, and a children's play frame. Plans submitted to Neath Port Talbot Council state there will be 76 seats, 31 car parking spaces, and four bike stands.
The proposal represents a multi-million-pound investment and the sustainable development of a prominent brownfield site, the planning application states. The Tesco site is considered highly accessible due to nearby footbridges and is walking distance from local comprehensive Cwmtawe Community School.
