New Five Nights At Freddy's movie trailer leaves fans feeling "terrified" but "excited"

Those who enjoy getting stuck into horror games on their PC or console will undoubtable have heard of the popular point-and-click survival franchise Five Night's At Freddy's. Created in 2014 by Scott Cawthon, the Indie horror game, otherwise known as FNAF, quickly became a worldwide hit.

It has since released eight more games in the whole of the FNAF series over the years, with the likes of famous gaming YouTubers PewDiePie, Markiplier and Jacksepticeye catapulting the franchise into further success. Now, fans will get to see the terror-filled game come to life on the big screen as a film adaptation is set to premier later this year.

The first full trailer of the highly-anticipated movie was released on Tuesday (June 27), as viewers got a look at the movie's plot and the cast. The official synopsis for the film reads: "A troubled security guard begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

"While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through." Many fans have been left impressed by what they've seen so far, with the trailer already being watched a whopping 7.2 million times in less than 24 hours on the official Universal Pictures YouTube channel.

Thousands have flocked social media to react to the new full length trailer, with plenty 'scared' and 'excited' at the same time. David_the_once tweeted: "Oct 27th can’t come soon enough." SWAntiMercy admitted: "Ngl I legit like the FNAF trailer.... scared the hell out of me at one point with the music though."

MetaQuestVR said: "Can't tell if we're more terrified or excited." Bitemyaxe_grunt shared a GIF of a person running in a bear suit, writing: "Me in a whole-a** Freddy suit running into the theatres." Sp3akN0w_ posted: "Fnaf trailer just got released and I'm too scared to play it, I'm just staring at the play button. Cant believe this movie is really happening."

Meanwhile, on YouTube many were pleased to see just how far the franchaise has come almost a decade later. Perduct commented: "The hard work and dedication to this movie IS INSANE."

CpybaraPull wrote: "No matter how the movie turns out, I'm just proud that an indie horror series has come this far. Congratulations to Scott for the series and well done to the movie team for making this."

Ddude added: "I remember a 'few' years ago when there were rumours about a film, but to actually see a trailer is a whole different experience - crazy how far this franchise has come." Timmontoya7427 typed: "The fact that this started as an indie game is amazing by itself. This really looks like the game brought to life."

The film is due to come out this Halloween - on April 6, FNAF producer Jason Blum took to Twitter to announce that the movie will release on October 27, 2023. Jason Blum has also produced other horror films, including Sinister (2012), Get Out (2017), M3GAN (2022), The Purge (2013) and The Black Phone (2021).

The cast of the FNAF 2023 movie includes Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) as the terrified new night guard, Mike Schmidt. Joining him are Matthew Lillard (Scream) as William Afton, Elizabeth Lail (You) as Vanessa, Mary Stuart Masterton (Fried Green Tomatoes) as an as-yet-unnamed villain, Piper Rubio (Unstable) as Abby, and Kat Conner Sterling (A Week Away) as Max.

The premise of FNAF involves the player needing to survive five nights at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria as a night guard from the dangers of animatronic characters that reside there - and come to life at night. As the nightshift guard, the player needs to keep an eye on animatronics' movements via the restaurant's security cameras and avoid getting caught by them.
