Netflix fans make same demand after binge watching Luther and You over the weekend

Two of the most popular and talked about things on Netflix right now have to be hit series ‘You’ and the latest in the Luther franchise, ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun.’ Fans of both who have spent the entire weekend bingeing the new releases are now making demands to the streaming service which could potentially be very interesting.

The second half of ‘You’ season 4 aired on March 9, a month after the first part of the new season hit Netflix.

If you’re not familiar with the show, the fourth season of ‘You’ follows serial killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) who has just moved to London where death seems to follow him.

Just when you think Joe is going to get caught for all of his murderous antics, he always finds some way of worming himself out of the situation and escapes his brutal murders scot free.

On the other hand, Luther (Idris Elba) is a troubled but clever detective in London who deals with murder cases, often involving serial killers, and has a knack for getting inside the mind of the killer.

'Luther: The Fallen Sun' premiered on Netflix on February 24 and is an continuation of the BBC series.

Theories have now been circulating online by obsessed fans who have posed the question - if Luther and Joe’s paths crossed, who would win?

Twitter user minjusbaby, who spent the weekend binge watching the must-sees on Netflix, said: “just binged #YouSeason4 part two and then watched #LutherTheFallenSun in pretty much one sitting and now I'm wondering, do we think DCI John Luther would be able to catch out Joe Goldberg?”

Viewers of both series were obsessed with the idea that Joe and Luther’s worlds could collide and demanded Netflix to make a crossover episode. Many seemed to go to bat for Luther ending Joe’s killing spree.

Ciara Brown said: “Omg great question!! That would be an amazing combination, the cat and mouse games, giving me Holmes v Moriarty vibes.”

Lee Bradley replied: “During season 1 of you. There would be no season 4 if JL (Luther) were involved....”

One user said: “DCI Luther and Joe inhabit two entirely different universes. If their worlds collided then God bless Joe but would end up worse than Andy Serkis,” who plays the villain in Luther.

However, Jennifer pointed out that Luther could not take down Joe, that it is “not possible, Joe is sharper” while many others “bet on Joe.”

Another user replied: “Oooh you are asking the good questions. And I would absolutely watch a four episode crossover special. Ball is in your court netflix.”

But it’s not just fans who have toyed with the idea of Luther and Joe meeting - Netflix released a promo of the two characters chatting indirectly to each other earlier this month.

In the video,. British actor Idris Elba, speaking as Luther said: “”Hello, you, Joe Goldberg. I hear you’re in London wreaking havoc on my city. Not for too long though. I’m right on your heels.”

It then panned to Badgley who was in character as his new personality, Professor Joseph Moore, who said: “Right on my heels? Your detective skills are clearly out of touch. Luther, my name is Jonathon Moore. There’s a real killer out there who could use your attention.”

Fans are demanding Netflix to make a crossover series, with one person called SK tweeting: “Omg please do a cross over of these in season 5.”

Another said: “Yes, @netflix must make a fusion from these two shows.”

aNI_MALISTIC said a crossover series was “Something i didnt know i needed.”
