Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “not welcome” in London, Sir Sadiq Khan has said.
The Mayor of London said that those “accused of genocide” should be held responsible.
Sir Sadiq also said the British Government should enforce the arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court (ICC) if Netanyahu visited the country.
It follows similar calls from New York mayor Zohran Mamdani this week.
Mr Mamdani rowed back on a campaign pledge to arrest Netanyahu if he visited New York, but made similar comments that the Israeli PM was “not welcome”.
Sir Sadiq told Channel 4: “I do believe that genocide is being committed in Gaza. I think Netanyahu is responsible and as a perpetrator of genocide I think he’s broken the law and I think justice needs to happen and that means him [being] brought to book.”
He added: “If there is any evidence of him coming to London, I’ll be lobbying the Prime Minister to ensure the law is enforced.”
The ICC’s arrest warrant was issued in November 2024 for alleged wrongdoing committed against Palestinians following the October 7 attack on Israel in 2023.
Israel has rejected the allegations and always denied accusations of genocide.
