N'Golo Kante suffers huge Chelsea injury blow amid World Cup hopes and contract uncertainty

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has suffered another injury setback. According to The Athletic, the Frenchman is set to miss three months of action, which will make him unavailable for Didier Deschamps' World Cup squad.

The report states that Kante picked up a hamstring injury in training and the 31-year-old is set to see a specialist. He recently returned to first-team training after having a spell on the side lines, but he has suffered yet another setback.

The midfielder hasn't played for the Blues since their eventful 2-2 draw with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in August. His contract in west London expires next summer, with many wondering if his injury issues may see the club refuse to offer a new deal.

When questioned on Kante's injury on Friday afternoon, Graham Potter said: "He's due to see a consultant at the weekend. It’s a setback, it’s not good news, but I can’t give you anything more at this stage.

"Historically there are things which have happened which is a concern, so we need to get to the bottom of that.

"It’s a setback at this stage of this rehab which is worrying, but all we can do is get the right diagnosis, get the right consultation, and try and help him get back to full fitness and enjoying his football."
